Baseball mirrors America. That was the main point of the Ken Burns special a few years ago. He could do a new chapter this year. It has been noted that North Americans - and I`d particularly point out U. S. Americans are getting noticeably fatter these days. It seems every game of Major League Baseball that I`ve glanced at this year has astonished me at how many fat - or quite beefy players there are. Right? Micky Lolich, Kirby Puckett, Tony Gwynn and Babe Ruth were the outlandish exceptions of their day. Now, every team seems to have a bunch of guys in that class of heft - or worse.
